You may not know about us but this business was created as of necessity when I had separated from husband and I needed to generate additional income to take care of my beloved horse Cappy. My passion for horses and creating beautiful custom items for both the rider and their horses makes my work seem more like play than work.
I lost Cappy last year. To be more specific, May 29th, 2019. I've never experienced such a deep loss in my life. When your horse is your family and your best friend, it's easy to understand why I just felt an emptiness in my heart and soul. The joy in spending part of my day with him, riding, the endless brushing to keep a gray clean and just the relationship we had between us is just gone and I've haven't felt that joy again.
With my reason for starting this business in the first place changing forever, I was faced with a decision as to whether or not I wanted to continue. Even though I loved my work, I just felt that my purpose was gone. Although I started this business to make money for Cappy, once he was gone, I was just lost.
After much soul searching, I realized and that through my business, I could help other horses and organizations that gave me not only fed my soul and it also gave me a new purpose. I felt at peace with my decision and as corny as it may sound, I knew Cappy would be happy with my decision.
This year, we've helped a variety of organizations. While some were of course equine related, some were not. Here's a list of the organizations that we've donated to:
United Professional Horsemen's Association: This association is helping with all who have been affected with the California fires. www.uphaonline.com
World Central Kitchen: Helping feed all of those affected with Covid. www.wck.org
WIRES Wildlife Rescue: Helping the Australian wildlife with the bush fires back in January. www.wires.org.au
Covid-19 Relief Fund: Again, helping all of those affected with Covid-19. www.directrelief.org
Southern Reins: Equine therapy for our veterans and children. www.southernreins.org
Living the Life Animal Rescue Inc.: Helping with their equine rescues. www.facebook.com/livingthelifeanimalrescue
This year, we decided in leu of offering a sale on our products, I decided that 20% of all sales from Black Friday and Cyber Monday will go to the Covid-19 Relief Fund, in order to help those affected by the pandemic. Again with your help, we were able to serve our country.
Every year we will be donating to various organizations. If there is one in particular that you would like us to consider, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I'm always open to any ideas or suggestions.
I miss Cappy everyday. Some days are harder than others but I feel at peace knowing that my business is not only a business but I can be of service to others.
